Emcee Kerry Washington introduced the first topic of the third day of the Democratic National Convention dealing with the epidemic of gun violence.

Deandra Dycus spoke about the injury sustained from a single gunshot suffered by her 13-year-old son, DeAndre, at a party when he was 13 years old, which left her son disabled and in a wheelchair. She called on leaders to take on the gun lobby and enact gun control.
Former Arizona Congressional representative Gabby Giffords, who was shot in the head in a mass shooting said, “[Joe Biden] was there for me. He’ll be there for you, too. Join us in this fight. Vote. Vote. Vote.”
