Currently churning in the Gulf of Mexico, Tropical Storm Sally is increasing in strength and will likely become a Category 2 hurricane by the time it reaches shore Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
In an already active hurricane season, this could be the seventh major storm to hit the Louisiana coast this year. On August 27th, Hurricane Laura hit the state’s shoreline causing widespread damage and flooding.
“I know for a lot of people this storm seemed to come out of nowhere,” said Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards. “We need everybody to pay attention to this storm. Let’s take this one seriously.”
