The National Football League has offered the use of all 32 stadiums around the country to be used as mass vaccination centers for the distribution of the coronavirus vaccines, NPR reports.
“We can expand our efforts to stadiums across the nation more effectively because many of our clubs have offered their facilities previously as COVID testing centers as well as election sites over the past several months,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wrote in the letter to President Joe Biden.
NFL stadiums are uniquely positioned to provide open spaces to set up multiple lanes to service patients, given that most of them have massive parking lots to hold more than 60,000 fans, at a minimum.
Many NCAA and Major League Baseball parks have also made offers to host vaccination sites. In many areas, NCAA sports complexes are a central location in rural areas, allowing for cars to line up in open areas.
