Superstore retailer Walmart shocked online shoppers with an automatic email that contained the n-word the shoppers received when they set up a new account, CNN reports.
The store’s Twitter stream started to fill up with shoppers questioning the company’s language. “What’s the best way to contact you guys for a very inappropriate email my daughter received in their inbox from you?” one Twitter user asked.
Walmart responded in a statement saying “an external bad actor” someone accessed their system and set up a fake account to send the emails. “We were shocked and appalled to see these offensive and unacceptable emails. We’re looking into our sign up process to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again,” spokesperson Molly Blakeman said.
