The Department of Justice released a disturbing 56-second video of a former New York Police Department jeering and attacking police officers protecting the Capitol grounds during the January 6th domestic terrorist attack, CNN reports.
Thomas Webster (in the red jacket) is shown pushing back barricades, thrusting a flagpole flying a Trump flag, bull-rushing and tackling a police officer during the confrontation. He was arrested February 22nd and faces at least seven charges, including assaulting police officers and various counts regarding wielding a dangerous weapon, DOJ records show.
Webster has not announced a defense strategy, but this video would undermine any claim that he was just a tourist visiting the Capitol, as some Republican members of Congress have described the insurrectionists.
