In a ploy that will likely end in claims that he has no idea how all that ended up on his computer, disgraced reality television personality Josh Duggar has requested the court delay his pending trial on possessing child pornography so that his hired experts can examine the electronic devices on which the offending material was found.
Radar Online reports that Duggar’s attorney filed a motion with the court asking for a delay in the schedule July 6th trial, saying “This is a complex case arising out of a several-year federal investigation concerning allegations involving both the so-called ‘dark web’ and peer-to-peer BitTorrent file-sharing networks.”
Because of the “complexity of the allegations and the scope of the digital discovery at issue, the defense’s computer forensic expert anticipates her review and subsequent analysis of the relevant evidence may take several months.”
Duggar is accused of two counts relating to receiving and possessing child pornography. He says his investigators need to pursue leads uncovered during discovery, when prosecutors share evidence with the defendant. He also accuses prosecutors of failing to interview key witnesses.
Duggar and his family were featured in the reality show 17 Kids and Counting, chronicling the lives of two parents and their horde of children–so many that the parents couldn’t take care of them and that assignment fell to the older children to take care of the younger ones.
Josh Duggar was accused of molesting some of his younger sisters.
He is out on bail, staying with “church friends” of his parents. He is barred from seeing his six children unless in the direct supervision of their mother.
