“A pair of Manatee County [Florida] employees died this week amid a COVID-19 outbreak among county staff. County officials closed the downtown administration building to the public at 2:30 p.m. Friday in response and directed employees to leave the building so it could be ‘disinfected, including fogging,'” the Herald-Tribune reports. The COVID-19 outbreak was announced in a tweet that stated ‘a number of COVID-19 cases were detected among County employees – including two deaths of our work family this week.'”
A tweet from the account @ManateeGov reported that: “The county administration building will reopen Monday, and when it does, “COVID-19 safety protocols will resume, including mandatory face masks,’ according to the tweet. Epidemiologists from the Florida Department of Health’s Manatee County office were at the administration building Friday to do contact tracing.”
Florida has seen a recent spike in Covid19 infection rates as the state’s large MAGA population refuses to get vaccinated. Vaccine refusal among Trump supporters means that the US has now effectively reverted to a “herd immunity” model, where Covid19 vaccines have accelerated the push towards herd immunity, while anti-vaxxers are relying on the “Swedish model” to deal with the disease.
