As Texas gets hit by a heat wave, Republican Texas Senator (and man who somehow got his spine made of Twizzlers to stay erect) Ted Cruz declined an invitation to attend the state’s version of the CPAC convention, saying that he had a previously scheduled family commitment.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Cruz will not appear at this weekend’s three-day Conservative Political Action Conference to be held in downtown Dallas, which will hit high temperatures in the mid-90s.
Cruz did not say what the family commitment was, whether the plans were made at the insistence of his daughters, or if the plans include fleeing the Texas heatwave to seek more temperate weather.
Donald Trump is slated to be the keynote speaker at the event.
