- Sneaking suspicion that the Trump class action suit will end up as a money-making scheme for Trump to bilk his followers: “Send $29.95 to Mr. Trump and get this certificate that YOU and Mr. Trump are together suing the pants off the social media monsters, personally signed by Mr. Trump’s laser printer. And don’t uncheck the box to make it a weekly contribution.”
- Fresh watermelon is Nature’s antidepressant.
- One of the most underrated protest songs of all time is Peter Gabriel’s “Biko” from 1980, a haunting musical eulogy to South African anti-apartheid activist Stephen Biko. It was perhaps the first song that brought the horrors of apartheid to the minds of American youth, who years later would be instrumental in pushing US policy to boycott South Africa.
- The three major stock indices each ended the week at all-time high closings, and there was not one self-congratulatory tweet from the White House, nor was there a contortionistic back-patting media appearance.
- More than half of new cases of coronavirus in the US are the Delta variant. Over 99% of coronavirus deaths in the US in the last month were unvaccinated people. And still, Republicans are against promoting vaccinations. Not mandating them; just promoting them. How is this normal?
- Greg Abbott signed vetoed an anti-animal cruelty bill. He’s probably the only person I know of who yells, “No, no! Don’t turn off that ASPCA ad. Is the St. Jude commercial next?”
- Most-likely scenario in the Tucker Carlson “The NSA is spying on ME!” kerfuffle: His Russian contact, with whom he was trying to arrange an interview with Putin, forwarded a Carlson email and text message to someone in Russia (probably knowing that it would be swept up). And my guess on the person who “leaked” the information to Carlson: Devin Nunes, minority leader on the House Intel Committee, who is not a whistleblower, but a leaker of classified information.
- “White Lines” is non-arguably the best old school hip-hop song. “Rapper’s Delight” is second, and it was more influential.
- Trump complains that Big Tech is censoring him, but imagine what his employees would do if a golfer wore an “Convict Trump” shirt or cap at one of his golf courses.
- The same people who are now whining about “censorship” want to stop people from talking about Critical Race Theory and vaccines and inequities in the legal system and climate change and…
- Critical Race Theory benefits from the Streisand Effect. More people will learn about it and read about it. Teens will hide books on CRT under their mattresses like it was subversive. Unfortunately, none of them will be Republicans.
- Based on the videos from the January 6th domestic terrorist attack being released by the courts, I’ve been touristing all wrong my entire life.
- While we didn’t cover the Britney Spears conservancy case here at NatZero, the issue of conservancies is going to be a significant issue in the future as millions of autistic kids reach adulthood. We need state and federal laws to ensure those kids who need conservancies are looked after and some conservator isn’t ripping them off.
- Hershey bars are the king of candy bars. But the other favorites (in order) are: Reese’s Cup (original), Milky Way, Crunch, and Kit Kat. If you include Bit O’Honey in your list, I disown you. And M&Ms don’t qualify because they’re a candy, not a bar.
- Ron Johnson benefits from having a tag on a toaster reminding the user not to use it while showering.
- Why is there another CPAC conference going on when they just had one February? Are they that lonely?
