CNN’s Marshal Cohen reports Washington DC Metro Police Officer Gunther Hashida, who responded to the Capitol riot on January 6th has died by suicide. Hashida is the third cop present at the Capitol on January 6th to take his own life, following the deaths of fellow DC Metro Police Officer Jeffrey Smith on January 15th and US Capitol Police Officer Howard Liebengood on January 9th. US Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick died of a stroke on January 7th, and while the DC coroner could not definitively link Sicknick’s death to injuries incurred while battling the insurrectionists the prior day, it remains classified as an “in the line of duty” death by Capitol police officials. US Capitol Police Officer Billy Evans was killed in an unrelated vehicular attack at the hands of a lone wolf madman on April 2nd. The terrorist, Noah Green, was shot dead at the scene.
