Major Update: Hurricane Ida strengthens considerably as it approaches landfall

This is an update to a story published earlier today. According to the August 28th, 4pm update from the National Weather Service, Hurricane Ida has strengthened considerably, and now has winds of up to 105 mph.

Hurricane Ida is currently projected to hit the Louisiana Coastline some time Sunday afternoon.

Resources for tracking the path of the storm include nhc.noaa.gov, the weather tracking website Windy.com, and Weather.com. Conditions in the city of New Orleans may be observed through several webcams. NBC News has also started broadcasting a live feed on Youtube to track the storm’s progress.
