University of Utah football player Aaron Lowe was shot and killed at a Salt Lake City house party Saturday night hours after the team’s victory against Washington State, ESPN reports.
Lowe died at the scene of the house party, in the Sugar House neighborhood. A woman was also shot, and she is in critical condition at a local hospital. Police said they responded to a call around 10:30 p.m. local time complaining about the noise from the party. After midnight, police got another call reporting a fight involving weapons.
“We are devastated to hear about the passing of Aaron Lowe,” Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Aaron’s family and friends, along with the other individual who was harmed in this tragic incident. Aaron was a great teammate, friend, brother and son and was loved by anyone who crossed paths with him. He will be deeply missed.”
