Random thoughts Friday, Volume XLI

  • Lev Parnas’s conviction is a great way to end the week. For us, I mean.  Probably notsomuch for him.
  • Colin Powell’s legacy is a complicated one:  A masterful military leader who sullied his reputation by promoting false claims leading to the 2003 Iraq invasion.  Reportedly, he regretted his part in leading the US to that war.  I, for one, believe he did not know the information he presented to the UN was fake and that he was a patsy for the Bush era neo-cons.
  • Had John McCain chosen Colin Powell as his running mate in 2008, he could have very possibly won the Presidential election.  Had Powell decided to run in 2000, he would’ve been the GOP nominee.  His presence at the leadership of the Republican Party would have averted the chaos of the current times.  One person’s desire to stay out of politics drastically changed the course of American history.
  • Matt Gaetz took to the House floor to whine about a guy who made a death threat on Twitter, but he doesn’t want to pursue investigations into January 6th attackers who threatened to kill Nancy Pelosi and hang Mike Pence.  IOKIYAMAGA.
  • I’m a little disappointed “Guatemalapalooza” didn’t get any love.  I thought it was my best line of the week.
  • TruthSocial will end up being a “boil the frog” financial scam for the Trump cabal.  I foresee them requiring you to enter in a credit card number to sign up, even though the site is free at the start.  Then, six months later, they’ll announce that there will be a $3.00 monthly fee.  “No big deal,” most people will think.  Two months after that, it’ll increase to $5.00 per month.  They’re banking on their cult members not caring about increasing fees.  It’s like a car dealership selling you undercoating.
  • Marjorie Taylor Greene testified at the sentencing hearing for the Marine officer (whom she had never met) who pleaded guilty to numerous charges of insubordination for social media posts, but strangely, she did not show up at the trial of the Parkland shooter whom, she believes, is the victim of a false flag operation because the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High mass murder was a hoax.  Shouldn’t the greater “injustice” of the mass murderer/false flag victim’s plea merit her speaking up with the evidence she has?
  • Black teas get milk and sugar.  Every other tea–herbal, green, rooibos, white–get honey only.  There is no debate on this.
  • We don’t cover The View on NatZero, but I came close when Condelezza Rice said on the show that it’s time for the nation to “move on” from the January 6th attack to deal with the things that really concern the American people.  According to Pew Research, 78% of Americans feel it’s important to prosecute the domestic terrorists who attacked the Capitol.  How are Republicans so out of touch?
  • Another thing from that interview:  Rice claimed she never wants to return to Washington, apparently taking herself out of contention for any campaign in the future.  That leaves Nimrata Haley as the last woman of color–any color, even white–in line for a national campaign for the GOP.
  • Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are signed to star in an upcoming movie about Barbie and Ken, the iconic dolls produced by Mattel.  Gosling will play the famously anatomically-incorrect Ken, although there is no word on how committed is to performing the role authentically.
  • I am disproportionately pleased with our new TV remote control.  It’s gratifying having something happen when I push the button the first time.
  • Juices, in order of preference:  cranberry, orange, pineapple, grapefruit (although I can’t drink it anymore).  No one over the age of five drinks apple juice.  I can only drink tomato juice (or its cousin, Bloody Mary mix) on airplane flights. And don’t come near with purple grape juice or something labeled “juice cocktail.”
  • Cranberry is the most versatile of juices, appropriate for morning breakfast or diverse evening cocktails.  You could use pomegranate juice as a more expensive substitute.
  • For those of you with friends or family in Virginia, please urge them to vote in Tuesday’s gubernatorial election.  Terry McAuliffe needs to win that race, and the only way he does is through massive turnout. (Okay, so I’m a week early.  So vote early!)
