Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s book “Republican Rescue” has sold less than 3,000 copies since its street date last week, estimates Substacker Eric Boehlert based on publishing industry data. Approximately 2,289 hard copies have been sold while the title currently ranks 15,545 in the Amazon Kindle Store, per Boehlert. Christie has been a ubiquitous presence on cable news the last few weeks in his tour for the book, but we at National Zero really mostly didn’t give a shit. For comparison’s sake, we ran two articles mentioning Christie this month. The Hill ran 17.
As Boehlert puts it: “Part of the avalanche of eager Christie coverage represent a relentless sub-genre of Beltway journalism that clings to the fantasy that there’s still a functioning faction of the Republican Party that can and will stand up to Trump’s erratic and dangerous behavior.”
