Sony Pictures has canceled “The Dr. Oz Show” featuring Mehmet Oz as its eponymous host pursues a nascent career in politics starting with a run for an open Senate seat in Pennsylvania, Politico reports.
The Ohio native and New Jersey resident seeks the Republican nomination for the Senate in a state he has never lived in, using his in-laws’ address as his qualifying residence. Oz claims he moved to Pennsylvania last year, but his social media accounts feature photos of him in his northern New Jersey residence and he continues to film his television show in New York City, hours from his listed residence outside Philadelphia.
Oz came to national attention as the host of the daily show, which ran for 13 years and targeted housewives with a mix of celebrity news and questionable medical advice.
