Some Hispanic and Black groups intend to boycott President Biden’s Tuesday speech in Atlanta because of the administration’s inability to pass substantive voting protection legislation, Reuters reports.
The groups were key to the Democratic effort in Georgia during the 2020 elections that resulted in Biden taking the state from Trump and two Democratic Senate candidates defeating Republican incumbent nominations.
“It is very disappointing that we use our voice and our vote to elect the Democrats to handle this issue and it just hasn’t been given the priority that it should,” April England Albright, legal director for activist group Black Voters Matter, said in an interview with Reuters.
