Travis County, Texas district attorney Jose Garza has determined that Attorney General Ken Paxton violated Texas’ open records law by not turning over his text messages and emails from January 2021, when he appeared at the Ellipse rally just before the Capitol riot, the Austin American-Statesman reports. “After a thorough reviewofthe Complaint, the TCDA’s office has determined that Paxton and the OAG violated Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code. The TCDAO will file an action against Paxton and the OAG for declaratory judgment and injunctive relief, if they do not cure the violations before the fourth day after the date they receive this notice,” said Garza in a letter to Paxton, giving him four days to comply before Garza files a lawsuit.
