Fulton County Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution her office’s probe of Trump’s infamous January 2, 2021 “Find 11,780 votes” call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has been expanded to include the fake Trump 2020 electors scam, as well as threats to Georgia election workers during the fraught period following the 2020 election.
“Our investigation is going to be complete,” said Willis in an interview. “So if it is found that that which you speak of with the electors is part of a scheme to do something criminal related to the 2020 election, then it’s going to be looked at.” Among the charges Willis said she’s eyeing under Georgia state law are criminal solicitation to commit election fraud, intentional interference with the performance of election duties, conspiracy and racketeering, among others.
Willis said she expects a lot of activity for the grand jury in June or July. Beyond that, the timeline on charges is long however, as Willis said it could be up to a year before a decision is reached. “There’s a possibility that after two months we’ll have all the information we need to press forward. There’s a possibility that after week one that some appellate issue will come and there’s a halt. But what I do think is within a year we will have all the information that we need.”
