The founder of the Memphis chapter of Black Lives Matter was sentenced to six years in prison for “illegally” registering to vote while serving probation, not even actually voting, Fox News reports. Pamela Moses, who pleaded guilty to felony charges of tampering with evidence and forgery in 2015, contended that she was unaware she was still on probation when she had attempted to register to vote in 2019. Both the corrections department and county election commission had signed off on her application, mistakenly so, as he probation had not ended yet at the time.
“You tricked the probation department into giving you documents saying you were off probation,” said Criminal Court Judge W. Mark Ward to Moses at sentencing which, even if true, is more an indictment of the state’s justice system than it is any single person whom, again, didn’t even fucking vote, just tried to register to vote. It is extremely unlikely that any person who was “tricked” by Moses will face any charges for being an accessory to the crime-ish offense.
“This is the token conviction used to cover the more outrageous problem. The hope is everyone stops paying attention and government never fixes the underlying issues,” says the top comment on the Fox News story which, aside from the questionable use of “token” is absolutely right, but for all of the wrong reasons. One woman spending the next half decade in prison, sacrificed pointlessly to a pagan death cult whose bloodthirst over 2020 will ever be satisfied. Even crueler that at least one white Trump fan who actually fraudulently voted for his dead mom got no prison time at all.
