Former Democrat turned hardcore pro-Trump Republican Vernon Jones has dropped out of the Georgia GOP gubernatorial primary to run for Congress instead, making former Senator David Perdue’s path against incumbent Governor Brian Kemp clearer, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Jones did not say which district he would run in, but reportedly the move came at Trump’s urging during a private meeting at Mar-a-Lago in which the Orange God Emperor guaranteed to endorse Jones in a different race if he dropped out – similar to how the Donald moved his chess pieces around the table in Alabama against incumbent Governor Kay Ivey.
