An Alaskan youth basketball league is apologizing profusely after accidentally, they claim, including sexual abuse in a list of things the league would be held harmless for, the Anchorage Daily News reports.
The Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches included a waiver for players who were selected to participate in the state all-star games that would be held around the state, requiring the players travel with coaches and other chaperones. Along with things like injuries incurred when playing and food allergy issues, the waiver held the association harmless if the child suffered sexual abuse.
The association’s president, David Porter, said that the association hadn’t changed the form and apparently the waiver for sexual abuse had been in the text for years.
