First Lady Dr. Jill Biden will travel to Romania and Slovakia for a weekend visit with US service members stationed overseas, Ukrainian war refugees, aid workers and embassy workers for the Mother’s Day holiday, Reuters reports.
An instructor a community college in northern Virginia, Dr. Biden will also visit with another educator on the trip, Romania’s first lady Carmen Iohannis, who is also an English teacher. She’ll also visit the President of Slovakia Zuzana Caputova.
More than 800,000 Ukrainians have entered Romania as they fled the war, with about 80,000 remaining. Another 380,000 entered Slovakia, which provided Soviet-era S-300 aircraft defense missile systems to the Ukrainians.
