With members of her staff calling themselves “trauma-bonded,” Republican Indiana Congresswoman Victoria Spartz has been dubbed the Worst Boss in Congress by the nonpartisan website Legistorm, Politico reports.
Spartz has the highest staff turnover of anyone in Congress for FY2021, according to the site. Reports from her staff and former staff relate stories of how she would enter her office suite and refer to her staffers as morons and idiots.
“That’s the common theme: Staffers do their job, and then Victoria comes in saying that they have no idea what they’re doing, that they are morons, calling them ‘idiots,’” said one former staffer. “Senior staff was amazing. That staff was really trauma bonded … we’ve all been through some shit.”
The first term representative–the first Ukrainian immigrant to serve in Congress–came to Washington after serving as a state senator in Indianapolis. She’s seen four aides leave her office this month after losing another last month.
