The House January 6th Select Committee has had only mixed success securing cooperation from the top tier of the Trump Regime, but Politico reports they’re making solid progress nonetheless putting together a picture of the coup attempt with the help of lower-level assistants and aides who have less to lose by providing information and documents to committee investigators. “We are definitely taking advantage of the fact that most senior-level people in Washington depend on a lot of young associates and subordinates to get anything done,” said Congressman Jamie Raskin, adding “A lot of these people still have their ethics intact and don’t want to squander the rest of their careers for other people’s mistakes and corruption.”
Among the most helpful have been Cassidy Hutchinson and Ben Williamson, aides to former Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, and Ken Klukowski, lieutenant to fascist former Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Clark, all of whom have provided extremely detailed testimony to committee investigators about the lead-up to the insurrection on January 6th, and Trump’s actions during the assault on the Capitol. “Washington is a place where decision-makers will make decisions but it takes a staff to execute and implement them,” said Raskin. “Those people are not bound by the kinds of compromising political allegiances that their bosses are.”
