Ending the day with no worse a record than a coin flip, candidates endorsed by Donald Trump split their performances today with a win in a West Virginia House primary and a loss in the Republican Nebraska governor race.
Along with various other sources, the Associated Press has called the Nebraska gubernatorial primaries, with hog farm owner and veterinarian Jim Pillen the winner of the Republican side. The establishment-endorsed Pillen handily beat the Trump endorsed Charles Herbster, and the race was called around 11 p.m. ET. More votes will be counted, so await the fraud claims from the Herbster camp because that’s what losing Trump-endorsed candidates will do… besides cry.
On the Democratic side, state legislator Carol Blood easily defeated the competition, taking 88% of the vote.
In West Virginia, the Trump endorsed candidate, Congressman Alex Mooney, defeated fellow Congressman David McKinley in a contest resulting from a lost Congressional seat due to redistricting. Trump would not have even considered endorsing McKinley because he didn’t vote to upend the Constitution to reinstall Trump after he lost the 2020 election.
