Restaurant chain Pizza Hut has been getting some undeserved scorn from conservatives for resurrecting their “Book It!” promotion that rewards children for reading books by gifting them a free personal pan pizza after finishing a certain number of books. And while conservatives regularly undermine attempts at intellectual improvement and reading, this time, they’re outraged(!) about a children’s book called “Big Wig.”
According to PennLive, conservatives have pushed Pizza Hut to trend on Twitter thanks to thousands of posts labeling the restaurant chain “woke” because “Big Wig” is about a boy who dresses like a woman to win a neighborhood costume contest.
“When a child dresses in drag to compete in a neighborhood costume competition, he becomes B.B. Bedazzle!” Simon and Shuster noted in its blurb for the book. “A key part of B.B. Bedazzle’s ensemble is a wig called Wig. Together they are an unstoppable drag queen team! But Wig feels inadequate compared to the other, bigger wigs. When Wig flies off B.B.’s head, she goes from kid-to-kid instilling confidence and inspiring dreams in those who wear her.”

Never a group to downplay something they dislike, conservatives have now called for a boycott of the restaurant, demanding that the book be taken off the list of recommended books and insisting the chain to ignore the fact that the book is about a costume contest. It’s not like a grown man wore drag to promote perfume in a very homoerotic advertisement for a degenerate pervert.
