Fiji’s Supreme Court handed a win to American authorities seeking to seize a yacht owned by Russian oligarch Suleiman Kerimov on Tuesday, ruling the warrant valid and handing the $325 million pleasure boat over to FBI agents who promptly sailed off with it Tuesday, the AP reports.
Chief Justice Kamal Kumar ruled Suleiman’s baby “sailed into Fiji waters without any permit and most probably to evade prosecution by the United States of America,” noting that the US reimbursed Fijian authorities for the costs incurred for keeping it impounded for the last month.
