Testimony to the House January 6th Select Committee from witnesses with knowledge of the Secret Service’s operations on the day of infamy indicated that agents did in fact try to get fat former President Trump’s motorcade down Constitution Avenue to the Capitol but gave up on the idea when DC Metro Police told them they didn’t have the manpower to secure and block the intersections along the way, the Washington Post reports. Secret Service agents thought they had talked Trump out of it after two weeks of nagging but when he claimed in his speech at the Ellipse that he would be marching with them, they rushed to figure out a way to haul his orange ass down there because they knew he wasn’t actually going to walk. Some of the morons in the crowd thought he was with them however, even though he was watching them commit felonies on his behalf that he did not and is extremely unlikely to ever pardon them for, even if reelected.
