An FDA report released Sunday announced a reduced dosage of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine is effective in children five years old and younger in preventing coronavirus infections from progressing, NBC News reports.
The report will be reviewed on Wednesday by a panel of independent experts who will decide if shots for preschoolers should be recommended. Last week, the FDA made a similar recommendation with the Moderna vaccine.
While children under six years old account for only three percent of recorded coronavirus cases, they have higher incidents of hospitalizations and fatalities than children in older age brackets.
