For the second time in seven months, Republican Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick has tested positive for the coronavirus, but he’s experiencing minor symptoms because he’s been vaccinated and received at least one booster even though he claims the entire coronavirus pandemic is a hoax and said recent spikes in case numbers were due to African Americans not getting vaccinated.
According to the Associated Press, Patrick tested positive Saturday after having previously contracted the coronavirus December 27th. In March 2020, the 72-year-old Patrick said old people should work through the pandemic–risking infection and death–to keep the economy going while younger, healthier people protect themself. The typically hypocritical Patrick is now isolating at his home, although he claims to be working.
About a year ago, in August 2021, Patrick stated that the spike the nation was experiencing in coronavirus cases was because African-Americans were refusing to get vaccinated; however, the percentages of Blacks and whites in the US who have received at least one vaccination are statistically the same.
