Eight people are confirmed killed by massive flooding that inundated the Appalachian foothills from massive rainstorms that dumped records amount of rain that’s really wet as far as water is concerned, the Washington Post reports.
More victims are expected, Democratic Governor Andy Beshear said, with rescuers lifting victims from rooftops with helicopters or using boats to evacuate people from isolated houses. Republican Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has been silent about the use of the government to save people who chose to live in those houses that were floodstricken, although he did say he sent prayers, according to a tweet.
The storms hitting Kentucky are part of the same string that continue to batter St. Louis and its suburbs, which had about 10 inches of rain in just a few hours Wednesday as a storm cell was locked into the location by pressure systems surrounding it.
Kelley and I are sending prayers to those in Eastern Kentucky following last night's horrific flooding. My team is here to help.

Seriously, Rand Paul has not mentioned the victims of the flooding except to say he and his wife are sending prayers to the victims. Paul, however, could take the time to appear on Jesse Watters’ Fox show to complain about Covid’s spread–which he claims is a Chinese bioweapon–while lying that “natural immunity” is two times more powerful than the protection provided by vaccinations, which is completely untrue.
Kelley Paul even took the time to mock demonstrators demanding action against climate change… as people were dying.
Perhaps they should protest at the private airport… Nancy Pelosi should be boarding her personal jet about now. Lotta fuel for one! https://t.co/4odc3Bvmss
