On Monday morning we were staring at three months to go until the 2022 Midterms with the Dems inching upward in the generic ballot polls as the GOP’s extremism and shitty candidates really dragged them down for the last few months while Biden racks up serious political and legislative wins. This might be his best month in office so far. The Red Wave’s been canceled, though Republicans were still far more likely than not to end up clinching a slim majority in the House while the Dems more likely than not would gain a seat or two in the Senate, as well as a gain in state governorships. The door was probably starting to close on Trump “officially” announcing his “not yet official” 2024 comeback run prior to the Midterms, as it seemed like RNC Chair Ronna Not-Romney McDaniel had successfully lobbied him to hold off and not fuck things up for the GOP.
Now on Tuesday morning, after the Great Raid on the Orange Caesar’s palace blew up in the news, are there going to be any electoral implications? Does this change anything? Who the hell knows.
Seriously. It’s a black swan. You can definitely say that it’s far more likely Trump will “officially” launch a 2024 campaign now, consequences for the GOP be damned. All the shit his fans were screeching Monday about this being a “political hit job on a 2024 rival” is risible, even more so by how they also subscribe to the legal fiction that he isn’t “officially” running yet. Even better: Wasn’t the whole fucking point of Trump’s planned 2024 launch to preempt exactly the kind of shit that happened Monday as “politically motivated”? Now Trump’s going to launch his comeback bid AFTER the Justice Department made it clear he’s extremely likely to be prosecuted. All those “intellectual” conservative douchebags who extolled the Donald’s “cerebral genius” should consider heroin (We only say “heroin” because it’s wrong to encourage people to commit suicide).
Anyway, while quite a lot hinges on whether or not Trump does launch his 2024 campaign soon, we don’t know what the hell else happens. Does the raid itself make hardcore Trump fans or MAGAgnostic Republicans any more motivated to vote GOP in the midterms than they were 24 hours ago? Were they going to stay home on election day otherwise? Do independents get sold on this “gestapo” bullshit or do they get turned off by the extreme reactions or – maybe even worse for the GOP – see how the parallels with what Hillary was accused of doing once more details are known? Are any more would-be flaky Dem no-shows any more on board if they weren’t already after the Roe v Wade decision? How many more of these stupid questions will our readers tolerate?
