Republican New York county election chief arrested for voter fraud

FBI agents on Tuesday cuffed Rensselaer County, New York Board of Elections Commissioner Jason Schofield on a federal indictment over his involvement in an absentee ballot scam to help a GOP incumbent in a 2021 Troy, New York city council election, the Times-Union reports.

The Republican former councilwoman, Kimberly Ashe-McPherson, pleaded guilty to a felony in June and admitted she had submitted fraudulent absentee ballots in the election. As part of her plea agreement, Ashe-McPherson was required to cooperate with federal prosecutors in bringing Schofield and others to justice for helping her obtain the ballots. Let the squeals of anger and whataboutery from the MAGA assholes obsessed with “election integrity” commence.
