A jury in Manhattan on Tuesday convicted the corrupt Trump Organization of multiple counts of tax fraud and conspiracy over its use of perks such as cars and tuition to skirt taxable salary payments to a number of employees, including CFO Allan Weaselberg, the Daily Beast’s Jose Pagliery reports.
The punishment for crimes themselves is likely a relatively measly $1.6 million fine. However it could have serious effects going forward for the Trump Organization, making it more difficult to secure financing for future projects. The State of New York could also pull the Trump Org’s license to operate within the state by simple administrative fiat as a result of the conviction.
