Monday is the ninth and final public House January 6th Select Committee hearing, at which it is all but certain the panel will vote to refer disgraced former President Trump and possibly some of his minions to the Justice Department to be prosecuted for inciting the violent insurrection against the federal government after his humiliating defeat to Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
The committee will also make public the final report on its findings at some point on Monday, which is sure to be a hell of a page-turner. Follow us below for live updates on the hearing.
On a parting note, the Committee did some historically exceptional work in these hearings with very few missteps or dull moments. Whenever there was something that was not quite news to political junkies following closely the Committee still managed to give it additional weight and impact through the surrounding context. The news they did break was fucking huge, presented with all the “theatrics” typically associated with their story’s villain. Credit to Chariman Bennie Thompson, Vice Chair Liz Cheney, and all the members who worked their asses off to make this happen.
