Barry Croft, Jr., the man who planned and led the effort to kidnap and potentially execute Democratic Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, was sentenced to 235 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Robert Jonker, who commented, “I do think of Mr. Croft as the more seriously culpable … more so than even Mr. Fox. I think he was the person who gave Mr. Fox something to grab on to.”
According to NBC News, Assistant U.S. Attorney Nils Kessler called Croft “fully radicalized” and still holding on to the view that Whitmer acted tyrannically after issuing public health instructions for people to stay isolated during the coronavirus pandemic. Croft and his followers planned an elaborate scheme involving blowing up bridges to facilitate the kidnapping and show trial of Whitmer, whom they intended to execute in a live stream broadcast.
