It was a wild day in college football on New Year’s Eve, and just some of the excitement happened on the field of play. During the Fiesta Bowl game in Arizona between Michigan and TCU, ESPN figure and former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III took a cell phone call live on the air while doing sideline commentary with colleagues and announced to his team, “I gotta go! Wife is going into labor!” A cameraman attempted to follow the speedy former QB as he ran off the field.
Somehow, Griffin was able to catch a Southwest flight that actually took off and made it home in time for the birth of his new daughter. Griffin’s wife and baby girl are doing well.
