Dem US Virgin Islands Governor Albert Bryan fired Attorney General Denise George on Friday, just days after George filed a lawsuit against JP Morgan Chase for allegedly helping facilitate notorious predator Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking ring within the territory, American Greatness reports.
Bryan did not give a reason for tossing George, saying only “I relieved Denise George of her duties as attorney general this weekend. I thank her for her service to the people of the territory during the past four years as attorney general and wish her the best in her future endeavors,” in a statement.
While the suit will continue in a Manhattan federal court under new Acting AG, a local news outlet reported the governor “had been frustrated with Ms. George for sometime and that her action against the bank was the final straw,” which sure sounds like some shady bullshit. If Bryan had some legitimate if not politically optimal reason to not want to piss off JP Morgan Chase like, say, them being a customer for municipal bonds or something, then whatever. That’s still a pretty bad reason to want this particular can of worms to stay closed, but it’s not as bad as if, say, Bryan was a “customer” of Epstein’s. Otherwise not explaining it creates the kind of void that right wing trash sites like American Greatness thrive in, especially when it’s an Epstein-related story.
