Turkish President Recep Erdogan is going full Trump ahead of Sunday’s election, accusing his main secularist rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu of links to the PKK Kurdish rebel militia, the Daily Beast reports.
“My people will not surrender this country to an individual who became president with the backing they received from Kandil,” said Erdogan at a rally last week, referring to the Iraqi region in which the Kurdish rebels are based. Erdogan’s allies are also working on a “western-backed coup” excuse to refuse to concede and “Stop the Steal” should the autocratic strongman lose.
