In a report mostly about diminutive Disney villain Ron DeSantis’s 2024 campaign struggles in the Cornhole State, Axios mentions that three Iowa Republican figures say their names were added to a list of Trump endorsements without them actually having endorsed the fat former autocrat yet.
“I lean Trump, but I 100% believe that DeSantis is the future of the party for 2028,” former GOP Congressional candidate Gary Leffler told Axios, adding that a reporter spotting his name on the list and asking about it was the first he had heard about the “endorsement.” Laura Carlson, vice president of the Iowa Federation of Republican Women and founder of the club Republican Women of Central Iowa, says her name was added without her knowledge too, and wonders how many other of the other 150 or so “endorsers” actually affirmed their support. A third didn’t want to be identified to Axios for fear of reprisal from the MAGA Reich, but said the same thing.
