Trump, Meadows, Giuliani among 19 indicted in Fulton County

Image

Well, it finally happened after much anticipation:  A Fulton County, Georgia grand jury has issued indictments with a total of 41 counts against former President and unsuccessful coup plotter Donald John Trump and 18 others for their efforts to undermine the votes of the citizens of Georgia by overturning the legitimate results of the 2020 presidential election.

Trump was charged with:

  • 1 RICO charge
  • 1 count of Solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer
  • 1 count of Conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer
  • 1 count of Conspiracy to commit forgery in the first degree
  • 1 count of Conspiracy to commit false statements and writings
  • 1 count of Conspiracy to commit filing false documents
  • 1 count of Conspiracy to commit forgery in the first degree
  • 2 counts of Filing false documents
  • 2 counts of Solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer
  • 1 count of False statements and writings

If convicted of all charges and sentences run consecutively, Trump could face as much as 55 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

The charges are part of a 41-count indictment, charging eighteen under the RICO act and with various other crimes.  The others are:

  • Rudy Giuliani, Trump attorney
  • John Eastman, lawyer with the conservative Claremont Institute
  • Mark Meadows, Trump’s former White House Chief of Staff
  • Kenneth Chesebro, Trump attorney
  • Jeffrey Clark, former Assistant Attorney General for the Environment and Natural Resources Division who somehow may have been named Attorney General for a day
  • Jenna Ellis, lawyer, member of Elite Strike Force Team
  • Ray Smith III, a Trump lawyer in Georgia
  • Robert Cheeley, little-know Trump lawyer in Georgia
  • Michael Roman, “Director of Special Projects and Research” in Trump’s White House
  • David Shafer, Georgia GOP Chairman
  • Shawn Tresher Still, fake elector
  • Trevian Kutti, former publicist for Kanye West who tried to intimidate election worker Ruby Freeman
  • Harrison Floyd, cohort of Kutti
  • Stephen Lee, cohort of Kutti
  • Sidney Powell, lawyer known as The Kraken
  • Cathleen Latham, Coffee County GOP chair
  • Scott Hall, Georgia businessman, MAGA fan and Republican influencer who access Coffee County voting machines
  • Misty Hampton, Coffee County elections official

Another docket listing shows Jeffrey Clark was also indicted in it.

Speaking after the release of the text of the indictments, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis claimed that she was going to try all nineteen defendants together, a Herculean feat given the size of the alleged conspiracy.  Willis also said that convictions under RICO laws require prison time, so all nineteen defendants are facing the genuine risk of time behind bars.  Since she took office in 2021, Willis has successfully convicted eleven RICO cases.
