Amid a series of redistricting wins in state and federal court in Ohio, Alabama, and Florida over the last week and more on the way in Louisiana, Georgia, and New York, Democrats have on paper positioned themselves to erase the GOP’s five-seat House majority and will have secured somewhere around net eight total safe new districts, Politico reports. Of course it all depends on the environment next year and all that shit but in comparison a 2022 baseline the already in or almost in the bag victories make Kevin McCarthy’s bid to hang onto the Speaker’s gavel that much harder.
That is if he even makes it to 2024, which isn’t a sure thing given the dissent in his caucus.
