Everything old is new again in the GOP:  voter suppression, old-fashioned corruption, and Kevin McCarthy.  Yep, California Republican Tom McClintock is circulating a “Dear Colleague” letter calling for the Republican Conference to condemn the acts of “eight of our ‘morally superior’ colleagues” and reinstate Kevin McCarthy as speaker.

Dear Colleague:
I have had enough, and I think you have too.
Our conference never voted to oust our Speaker. Eight of our “morally superior” colleagues made that decision for us. And for the last nine days, we’ve been jumping through their hoops. What we’ve found is that if we do it that way, we’ve ceased to be the majority and will eventually cede that mantle to 212 united Democrats and whatever rump group of Republican malcontents they can assemble.
ENOUGH!
Let’s start acting as a majority again. Let’s put the ouster of Speaker McCarthy to a conference vote. Specifically, I propose to condemn the House vote that removed him, and to re-nominate him for that office and then keep voting until enough of our wayward colleagues return to the fold.
The conference rules require 25 percent of the conference to sign a resolution for expedited consideration. I ask for your help and for you to co-sign on to my Conference Resolution.
Let’s get back to work for the American People under Speaker McCarthy.

With Steve Scalise out of the running, Jim Jordan is reportedly working the phones trying to drum up support for his own march to not getting 217 votes.  With only four votes to spare, Jordan will have no room for errors given at least two member of the GOP caucus have already publicly come out against him as Speaker.
