Hoping to find a long-term partner to back Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in his spat with Manic Marigold Donald Trump, the Super PAC that for the moment supports his campaign has named Phil Cox, a long-time Republican strategist whose name would elicit parental challenges at school board meetings across the state, to be its senior advisor.
Per Politico, Cox will fill the void left after multiple previous DeSantis favorites backed out of the position at the Never Back Down PAC, with as many as two people in three days filling the gap… not that there’s anything wrong with that. The hope is that the injection of Cox as the man on top of a DeSantis push during these final weeks before the Iowa caucuses–which are so, so close–may get their man over the finish line ahead of the others, with Nikki Haley likely finishing unsatisfyingly behind the hard-charging men.
