Florida Republican Congressman and Dr. Frankenstein’s other horrific creation Matt Gaetz didn’t seek to oust Kevin McCarthy from the House Speakership because of staunch conservative principles, as he portrayed during the September saga, according to personal emails from Gaetz reviewed by the Daily Beast.
Instead of punishing McCarthy for working with Democrats to pass a government financing bill, as Gaetz repeatedly said, Gaetz instead sought to punish McCarthy for supporting an ongoing House Ethics Committee investigation into allegations that Gaetz was involved in sex trafficking, as well as other claims about unethical behavior with lobbyists and disgusting behavior on the floor of the House.
In conversations with multiple Republican members of Congress who spoke to the Daily Beast, Gaetz told them directly that he wanted McCarthy out for supporting reopening the Ethics Committee investigation.
