Republican former Maryland Gov Larry Hogan will on Friday file to run for the Senate seat being vacated by retiring Dem Senator Ben Cardin, Politico reports in a tweet that doesn’t link to an article.
In 2022 Hogan turned down Mitch McConnell’s pleas to run against incumbent Dem Chris Van Hollen, which in retrospect might’ve been more of a “Fuck, I’ll probably lose” than a “No, I don’t want to serve in Congress, especially with you, Mitch.” His likely Dem opponent will be Congressman David Trone of the 6th District. Could end up being a close race given Hogan’s profile.
