Next week the House will tee up the “Hands Off Our Home Appliances Act,” the “Liberty in Laundry Act,” the “Clothes Dryer Reliability Act,” the “Refrigerator Freedom Act,” the “Affordable Air Conditioning Act,” and the “Stop Unaffordable Dishwasher Standards Act,” all from Republicans clearly terrified of state overreach in energy and water efficiency standards, Punchbowl reports.
“It’s April, and Republicans are on messaging bills,” Punchbowl writes, making it clear this is a bridge too far for even them despite their usual willingness to propagate other stupid bullshit from Hill Republicans. What’s also particularly on-brand about this how the GOP members opposed to efficiency in household appliances and fixtures are plainly opposed to efficiency in the legislative process, as all six of these different bills could almost certainly easily combined into one given the obvious overlap… and that the Dem-majority Senate will ignore them to focus on actual governing.
