The first American-made arms and munitions authorized by Congress’s $61 billion aid bill passed last month began arriving at Ukrainian units this week, Reuters reports, giving the forces fighting invading Russians more options at their disposal. Units manning howitzers received crates of shells, refilling stockpiles and alleviating pressure on dwindling supplies.
“We were positioned in the Bakhmut area before, now we have been transferred here. It’s much ‘hotter’ here. We didn’t have shells there. Here, at least we have shells, they started delivering them. We have something to work with, to fight,” a gunner named Pavlo said, noting that GOP stubbornness to support Trump’s anti-Ukraine policy benefitted the Kremlin.
