It didn’t seem like it would ever get here, and thanks to the usual bureaucratic delays, when it did, we didn’t even notice, but April 2nd was the first day that the state of California did not record a single death due to the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
The state recorded its first Covid death on March 18th, 2020, and in every one of the ensuing 1,476 days; on January 12th, 2021, the state recorded its peak of 712 coronavirus deaths. But as the days passed, no death certificate showing Covid as the cause of death were dated April 2nd. More than 107,000 Californians have died from the virus.
