They needed some kind of distraction after the horror show that was Wednesday so they went with a very short Olympics boxing match between Algerian Imane Khelif and Italian Angela Carini – which Carini quit after 46 seconds because Khelif had simply mauled her. “After the second blow, and after years of experience in the ring and a lifetime of fighting, I felt extreme pain in my nose,” Carini said after the bout… which the right wing freaks made into a “controversy” all morning Thursday.

Few if any actually used the word “trans,” they simply said Khelif is male because she was disqualified from an International Boxing Association tournament in India last year after testing for high levels of testosterone. The IBA itself was suspended as a qualifying body by the IOC for some sort of financial fuckery, so Khelif and fellow boxer, Taiwan’s Lin Yu-ting, were allowed to compete this year in Paris, just as they both did in Tokyo in 2021, without said “controversy.”

Just going to throw this out there: Khelif would not be in Paris if she was actually trans. She would be dead. Algeria is a conservative Islamic country where transitioning is illegal but what’s the point of even mentioning the law there when in practical terms it would mean she would be murdered by an angry mob (which is actually more likely to become a self-fulfilling prophecy after this fucking disgrace). Also, we’re not trying to be crude here, but it would seem that Khelif and Lin’s testosterone levels are elevated for the same reason Lindsey Graham’s level is deficient (OR this is a failure on the IOC – and the IBA – to test for doping agents). That’s it.

Indeed, the Algerian Olympic Committee denounced the “baseless” attacks on Khelif. Carini herself said she wishes Khelif “to carry on until the end and that she can be happy. I am someone who doesn’t judge anyone. I am not here to give judgements.” She’s right. That’s LibsOfTikTok’s job.
